Głogów Małopolski ies in southern part of the Sandomierz Basin, and historically belongs to the province of Lesser Poland. Since its foundation until the Partitions of Poland, the town was part of Sandomierz Voivodeship. In 1772 - 1918, it belonged to the Austrian province of Galicia. The distance to Rzeszów is 12 kilometres. During World War II, local Jewish population was exterminated by the Germans in the Holocaust. Some 5,000 people, both Poles and Polish Jews, were murdered in a forest, located between Głogów and Rzeszow.
